Hi there ! My name is Rebecca, my friends call me Rebi and this is my blog Rise & Shine!
And why the name Rise & Shine ?
Mornings are my favourite part of the day. The nature is waking up, the Moon replaces the Sun, you can hear birds singing ( unless you live in a big city :P ) . Ones I open my eyes, I tank for at least 5 things on my mind. I stretch a little bit, drink a glass of water and move myself to my yoga mat. I smile at myself, close my eyes and breathe-fully concentrating. I wake up my body with few yoga asanas. After that my favourite part of the day- my BREAKFAST. Oh my ... I can´t even describe how much I love breakfast. This kind of became my morning ritual, which I love and it also keeps my energy level pretty high. :) Because how we feel and what mindset we choose, we also vibrate to the world. Every morning for me simply means new opportunities, new beginnings and that is why Rise & Shine.
I started my blog last year, summer 2016, and finally decided that it is a good time to start an English version as well. I love to share my passion about healthy and nourishing food, healthy mindset and movement ( especially yoga ) . Recipes that I create are made of natural and seasonal ingredients. I am learning to stay open minded in all aspects of my life- also food. I am not vegan, vegetarian ( even though I mostly eat plant-based diet ) and I don´t obey any particular diet as paleo or so. I like to say: " Everything in moderation." Creating recipes is simply like a form of meditation for me as well. I experiment, let my senses lead me and create. :)
BUT what I can say about my recipes: all of them are without refined sugars, white flour. They are full of vitamins, minerals and nutrients to fuel our body and mind. I use whole grain, a lot of legumes, nuts, seeds, cold pressed oils, vegetable, fruit- mostly organic or in season picked up from our garden. I use happy free range eggs, meat very rarely ( and only free range where animals were treated the right way ). I don´t use diary (because of my lactose intolerance, which I think is actually a cause of digestive problems of a lot of people) , but I believe that a little bit of white yoghurt, quark or good cheese won´t hurt anybody. I try to balance not only my life , but all of the recipes as well.
except recipes I also like to share with you my opinions about healthy nutrition, body and MIND. I am only at the beginning of my journey ( and also not a 100% fluent english speaker) , so I hope you will excuse e a small imperfection from time to time.
And who am I ?
Still figuring this part out haha.
Anyways, my name is Rebecca, I am 20 years old and currently live in Prague where I study nutritional therapy as well as holistic medicine ( homeopathy ) . I also spend a lot of time on my yoga mat and hope to become a yoga teacher when the time is right. I was very active since I was a little kid. I did competitive dancing for 14 years, mostly eaten well and took care of my body. At the age of 17 I went to America for one year. And as almost everyone I gained few kilograms there. After I came back, I started to really interest myself in nutrition and decided to get back in shape. But I took it from the wrong ending. I kind stopped being connected to myself for some time. I was over exercising and created very strict rules when it came to my diet. What eventually led to a disordered relationship with food and eventually to an eating disorder ( I´ll tell you more about it in another post ) . Today I am really grateful for this experience, because it helped me to become the woman I am today, opened the door to yoga, self development and self love. It would be no fun without little challenges along the way. Right ? So we can become more aware, stronger, more grateful or anything that it is supposed to teach us.
And just as reminder here are few things that I am grateful for:
Our breath, movement, yoga, Sunday lunch with my family, my dog Lara, farmers markets, fresh fruit from my garden, sunset, sunrise, feeling of freedom, the Ocean , nature, long conversations, stars, the Moon...
I am still creating my own journey in this life ( as we all are ) . I want to show you that the key to health is happiness and love and that it radiates from every soul and comes hand in hand with self-love.
Because only after we accept us and learn to love ourselves unconditionally, we are able to live, think and eat healthy, not because someone told us to or because it is "the right thing to do" , but because we truly want to .
